Captain's Blog: Almost There!
Things I will miss about living in England:
•Walkers Cheese & Onion Crisps
•Knowing exactly what something cost, taxes included
•Using coffee night/wine night as prees in the Common Room before a night out with the girls...or turning it into our own party
•All night study sessions in the David Wilson Library, especially in the Graduate Reading Room
•Travelling to just about anywhere with ease on the cheap
•Popping down to London within a couple of hours
•Open containers and having a beer in the park on a nice day
•Meeting up with so many friends, some I haven't seen in years
•Having a pint at the pub
•Primark
•Grocery delivery
•Weatherspoons, especially The Corn Exchange
•A kebab & cheesy chips from AJs after a long night at the library
•Playing quidditch (even in the snow) in Victoria Park
•Leicester's Curry Mile
•Quick trips in to town that turn into adventures
•All the greenspaces
•Pokemon hunting/raiding with my flatmate
•Teaching my mom how to use technology
•Being always offered a beverage when you 'come round'
•Pink Gin & Lemonade or a lager with a Lemonade topper
•Living out my Doctor Who & Harry Potter dreams
Things I won't miss about living in England:
•Waiting several hours to share good news or vent, because time difference
•The sun setting at 2pm during the winter & rising at 3am during the summer
•Anything labeled "southern"..but especially fried chicken
•Most British versions of American brands, I'm looking at you Coca-Cola & Hershey's
•Not being able to get a decent Old Fashion
•Cider
•"Lemonade" when all I want is proper lemonade
This last year has been amazing, challenging, rewarding, eye-opening and so much more. Sometimes when you make a major decision in a short timeframe, all hell breaks loose. For me it was heaven..for all the good times and bad, I'd do it all again.
The World Cup may not be coming home....but Atlanta, I am!
