One Year Later

It's been one year since the outbreak of Covid-19. The world is still shit. People are still being targeted because of their race, gender or economic status. Every day is a struggle. Every DAMN day. Today I'm just exhausted. I am hopeful though. Today I got my first of 2 vaccinations for Sars Coronavirus-19. And that's the bright spot I'm holding on to today amidst the trash world we aren't currently living in.

Summer Olympics 2012!!!

What takes over my life for two weeks every four years? The Summer Olympics of course! I love the Olympics b/c of the spirit behind it. To me (and I think the rest of the world too) the olympics are about being on an even playing field and universal commadarie. For two weeks every four years we set aside our wars and our differences and just try make our countrymen proud. In addition most of the athletes are amped to meet and compete against their idols or people who are generally important to their respective sport. Hmm So this is it huh??

Do you remember as a kid always wanting to grow up? You wanted to be your own person, make your own rules and just be in charge. Well as I reflect on this need that manifested its self at the ripe ole age of 10 I realize I had no clue what I was getting into. Now that I am paying my own bills, taking care of myself as well as another living being and generally trying to make it as my own person, it sort of sucks. Don't get me wrong there have been some highlights but when you put it all in prospective and crunch the numbers, I am kinda on the wrong end of the toilet we call life. So how do I adjust? Or is this it? I don't mean to sound pessimistic and all but I have that constant sense that I am struggling. Remember When?

So the other day I was so tired from work that I decided to veg out. I sat on the couch and watch essentially 3 hrs worth of Toddlers and Tiaras. Stay with me.....there is a point here. In one episode a judge said that if a little girl is a little bigger she most likely won't win. They are looking for a skinny girl. As soon as I heard this a part of my soul died. Don't we have enough body image issues as girls and women? How are the girls, teens and women who are TLCs main target audience feeling? I am not a skinty biyatch rather I'm at a healthy weight however I felt depressed. Remember the days when you were a little girl,where you wore a two piece swimsuit at the pool and were just excited that you could do a perfect cannon ball? Remember when you loved every dress you wore just because it was in your favorite color and you didn't care how anybody thought you looked? Why has that changed? Screw it! For me it will not change!
