The Plantswoman in me needed to read this again.....

This is not the rest of the story from my Xmas Eve adventures but I came across this again today and decided to share it with the Blogger World: FOR THE GARDEN OF YOUR DAILY LIVING PLANT THREE ROWS OF PEAS: Peace of mind Peace of heart Peace of soul PLANT FOUR ROWS OF SQUASH: Squash gossip Squash indifference Squash grumbling Squash selfishness PLANT FOUR ROWS OF LETTUCE: Lettuce be faithful Lettuce be kind Lettuce be patient Lettuce really love one another NO GARDEN IS WITHOUT TURNIPS: Turnip for meetings Turnip for service Turnip to help one another TO CONCLUDE OUR GARDEN WE MUST HAVE THYME: Thyme for each other Thyme for family Thyme for friends WATER FREELY WITH PATIENCE AND CULTIVATE WITH LOVE. THERE IS MUCH FRUIT IN YOUR GARDEN BECAUSE YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW Don't know where this came from but I love all things plant related. Speaking of which, watched a cool documentary the other day that I thought was pretty cool. If you've got time, check it out. It's called "B...

Sometimes I feel like my life is a poorly written sitcom

So because I had nothing better to do this year I told my boss that I would work the Xmas holiday weekend. Silly me! So here it is Xmas Eve and the 10 people I know in ATL are either out of town or with family. I was just anticipating hanging with the dog but since he's on crate rest he's no fun right now. Thus I was given the challenge of finding something fun, cheap and close to home to do on my Saturday night. A mini light bulb went off in my head! Why not go to the gay bar?1? I always have a good time, there was bound to be other lonely souls up to no good and the music is always good. So I showered, put on a festive dress and headed out the door. Once there I sat down for my meal and settled in for the night of ridiculous fun. Now here's where it gets interesting and I swear that these types of things only happen to me. 1) Only in the biggest gay bar in the city can I get multiple free drinks not because I am cute but because my outfit is fierce. I got so many complime...

Let's Go........HOKIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so it has been a real up and down season for us. Right now my Hokies are ranked #5 in the BCS standings. This is a big deal because if certain schools lose we could be playing for a National Title. That is a super big deal. I am so proud of us even though I am not sure if we totally earned it but I'll take it. Right now we are playing our state rivals UVa and are looking for a win to clench the ACC Costal. So as my heart keeps beating faster watching this game...all I can say is Let's Go Hokies!!

Celeb Sighting...and bucket list

So as I am sitting here watching the Alabama vs LSU game it has dawned on me that I haven't updated the blogger world on my recent happenings. Well I have gathered yet another celeb sighting. This time it was Ben Stiller. He is in ATL to film the movie Neighborhood Watch and I happen to be in one of the scenes. Yup that's right I got to be an extra. I most likely will end up on the cutting room floor but I can at least check that off of my ATL bucket list. Honestly I have about 4 different bucket list going right now....there's my before 30 bucket list, my lifetime bucket list, my "other" bucket list and of course my ATL bucket list. If I didn't write it down I'd probably forget half the stuff I put on them. Any ways on another note I'd like to share with the blogger world that I have finally got my stuff together. I have decided to stop worrying and start living. I know I have said this before but I never really truly put it into to practice before. R...

Missing Photos

Alas silly me! I forgot to attach the photos! Problem solved. Until next next post....laters

Riding the Wave!!

It's been such a wild ride these past couple of weeks. Of course it's a very busy time for me at work couple that with the 5k that I ran, the work I had to do at Disney plus trying to prep for grad school.....whew!!! My head is spinning, but it is definately a good type of spinning. I like the feeling of being active and having a lot going on. It may be hard to keep it all straight but it sure is fun too. Alas here are a few of the photos I have been promising: 1) Hill Harper & Tyrese 2) Me @ the 5k Finish line 3) The dog drinking beer is on my other camera so alas you must continue to wait on that one I think that is it from me blogger world.....until next post!!! Latersssssssss

While Jimmy is away....I will play!!!

So while Jimmy went to California to visit Disney and explore L.A. I decided to explore ATL. I recently went to a TV Show taping (but since I was only in the audience it will not be removed from the ATL Bucket List) and had the pleasure of not only seeing Hill Harper (CSI:NY) but also Tyrese (Baby Boy, Transformers). Tyrese even performed a classic and a new song. It was pretty cool to go out,, hang with a girlfriend and feel like an adult for once in my life. Maybe this whole living in Atlanta thing isn't as bad as I have been making it seem. Afterall we have our ups and our downs. Until next post.....

Celebrity Sighting # 6

Man this is becoming a pattern for me. The latest sighting was today at the Atlanta Botanical Garden!!! Who did I see you wonder? Well none other than Cameron Diaz. She's been in town for about 2 weeks filming "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and I tried to catch a glimpse of her when she was in Piedmont Park filming but didn't see her. It was all rewarded today. Until next post Blogger world....laters

Celeb Sighting # 5 and more....

Alrighty first things first, the celebrity sighting. This time I saw Keith David aka Dr. Faciller (The Princess & The Frog) though he has done lots of other movies. In fact he is a leading voice actor. Any ways Jimmy and Jeremy were not as excited as I was but I love spot celebs. I never speak or take photos but I definitely think that seeing them here in Atlanta is a bonus of living here. On to the "and more"... Not a whole lot to say but I guess an update is warranted. Taking the GREs later on this month, then applying for graduate school (duh). Then planning a couple of road trips like to DC, FL, Vegas and possibly Jamaica. LJ is doing fine but I really need to get him into obedience school soon because I am afraid that with living in the city and him not really listening to me he may run off and get hit by a car. Sad thought but it happens way to often. I've been here for a year now and I now like where my life in Atlanta is going. That's all I've got for ...

Hmm So this is it huh??

Do you remember as a kid always wanting to grow up? You wanted to be your own person, make your own rules and just be in charge. Well as I reflect on this need that manifested its self at the ripe ole age of 10 I realize I had no clue what I was getting into. Now that I am paying my own bills, taking care of myself as well as another living being and generally trying to make it as my own person, it sort of sucks. Don't get me wrong there have been some highlights but when you put it all in prospective and crunch the numbers, I am kinda on the wrong end of the toilet we call life. So how do I adjust? Or is this it? I don't mean to sound pessimistic and all but I have that constant sense that I am struggling. I don't mean financially or anything along those lines, I guess its more personally or in general. I feel like I am treading water but not really swimming anywhere. To put it bluntly I'm in a super funk that is damping my general overview if life and I can't seem...

Did You Know-West Coast Edition Part 2

I said if I had any more revelations during this "adventure" I would share them and thus here it is: 9. It is possible to sleep comfortably on the floor of an airport terminal for 3hrs. Sometimes 10. Sometimes the airlines dangle the carrot of leaving in front of your face only to make you deboard the plane 45mins later for a "security breach". One day I will leave the State of Arizona....maybe it will be today!?!?! Until next post laters, Moe

Did You Know-West Coast Edition

Hello out there blogger world!!! So as you guys know I'll been on the otherside of our fine nation these past 4 or so days and as with all my travels I have picked up a few bits of lifelong knowledge that I plan on sharing with you all!!! 1. Newer planes now have a "turn off electronics" as opposed to "no smoking" signs next to the "fasten your seatbelt" sign. 2. However keeping in mind Fact #1 and that it is (and has been illegal for years!!!) there are still ash trays in the bathrooms. 3. Even though you are flying on the same airline, have no checked baggaged and have only a 15min layover at some airports (Vegas!?!?!?) you have to go back through a security checkpoint. 4. Some planes are so small that they can only hold 20 people not counting the flight crew which consist of 3 people. 4b. These planes are also so small that every seat is a crappy seat and you can feel and hear the twin engines. 5. Do not get hungry b/c food on the plane usually cons...

Cally For Nigh A (California)

Image
So this trip to Cali has been one thing after another! First I couldn't use my orginial ticket and thus had to scramble to find another, then I ran out of money and so far have been on 3 planes. I left ATL at 5 am EST and will arrive in Cali at 11:45am PST. It's not so bad now but the return flight is gonna suck. Ah well comes with the territory. I had to take a photo of Vegas since this may be the only time I'll be here in the near future. I also had to capture  a photo of the very tiny 30 passenger plane that will be finally transporting me to my final stop. Adventure is my middle name!!! Moe

Puppy Love

Image
I'd like to introduce all my loyal followers (yup the both of you) to the newset member of the clan, Lord Jaymeson better known as LJ.  He is a Jack Russell Mix that I got from the Atlanta Humane Society. He is a little over 2 years old and he can be such a sweetie. He needs a little training (let's be honest I'm the one that really needs it) to be the best dog he can be but otherwise he is pretty awesome. One of his favorite things to do is sleep which if you know me at all you know that's one of my favorite activites and thus we are a match made in puppy heaven. He is my first dog so I'm a little out of my element but there are so many dog owners in ATL and at my job that I have plenty of people to turn to. Overall I am very happy to have him and look forward to many blissful years. Until next post

One of those days....

So we all have those "off" days where nothing you do is right, everything is going crazy and you are in a general bad mood all day. Today was one of those days for me. No matter what I was doing today was not my day. I have had this pain in what I assume is my seattic (we all know I can't spell by now) nerve that has progressively gotten worst. Today was the day that the limping I have been doing turned into a complete hobble. Even sitting to long was a bad decision because when I got up my leg damn near gave out on me due to pain. Next thing my stomach has been in knots...like speaking in tongues gurggling coupled with lots of baby belches and some very toxic gas. I would not be surprised if the EPA sends me a letter with a fine included. So of course I am in a sour mood so I decided to do as much alone work as possible today so I would not infect others with my negativity (it's so rare with me that it's contagious), this plan failed. Of the 5 things listed this ...

Where has the time gone???

Image
In the weeks since my last post a few things have happened. I have been swamped at work with all this responsibility in the Children's Garden. Don't get me wrong I love every minute of it but it almost feels like I am always trying to avoid getting swept out to sea instead of riding the wave. On top of that, I have finally started to study & prepare for grad school but I have ran into an unexpected hiccup. My GPA in 1 pt to low for the program I want. So the question begs to be asked can I enter another similar program prove I can do it and possibly transfer? Will that be an option? Will I like my second choice program better? Should I just go for certification and just skip the whole idea of a degree? Should I go for the BA instead of the M.Ed? I thought it would be easier to do the second go around but I feel like I'm right back in DC trying to figure out what college is best for me...(Go Hokies!!!) Next on the agenda is getting a dog. I keep putting it off and I am s...

Mini Vacay @ Disney World

Image
After a pretty hectic week, I decided that I needed a mini vacay. So I headed down to sunshiny Flo Rida and hung out at Disney World with my favorite Rae of Sunshine, Amanda. Being the plant geek that I am I had to check out this years Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot. I thought it was pretty cool, plus another one of my friends got the opportunity to give a talk. It is officially spring at the Garden so its about to kick into overdrive so this mini vacay couldn't have come at a better time. So what's on the agenda for the coming months you ask? Well just to give you all out in the blogger world a little snippet we will be changing out about 2 acres worth of garden space (pulling the winter stuff and planting the spring stuff), I will be changing out the children's veggie garden, my best friend is graduating from college, I will be attending a 3 day symposium on youth gardening, and heading to California for a wedding. Oh and did I mention all of this plus more will be...

Damn you College Basketball!!!!!

In the time it's taking me to drive from Atlanta to Washington...2 of my Final 4 teams are gone...and I had Duke in all four of my brackets. Darn it all to hell for the unpredicatabilty of college basketball. All I have left to say is come on Ohio State....let me ride you into Final Four glory. Moe

Final Four Picks

Alrighty we are at Sweet 16 time and thus its time for me to fast forward past the Elite 8 right to the Final 4. Of the 4 brackets I got going, my #1 bracket has the following teams as the Final 4.....DRUM ROLLLLLLLLLL.............Kansas, Duke, Ohio State & BYU. I do have other combos that include upsets such as FSU & Richmond as well as possible front runners like UNC & UK. However I'm going to stand by my current decision b/c win or lose there is going to be a lot of interesting basketball. Stay tuned for the revealing of my NCAA Tourney winner (Hint: Blue is not a school color)

Deja Vu....same stuff....different day

Damn it....yet again we've been left out of the NCAA Tourney and banished to the NIT. Its not a bad tourney its been around longer but no one really cares. Ah well maybe next year....on the social/personal life front, Jimmy is moving in with me so i'll have a roomate again. Hope he can adjust to my newly active social life. Next time i'll share who i've got in my final four...i cant remember all of them but Ohio St & UK are 2.

OMG...College Basketball is WWWAAAYYYY Intense

So I've been watching the ACC Tournament hoping and praying that our performance would FINALLY get us off of the NCAA bubble, tonights game versus Florida State was intense enough to be just the push we need, so much so that I think we just may make the Golden 68. We were down most of the night then at the last 2 or so minutes we tied up the game and took the lead. With 4 seconds left FSU went for the basket and as the buzzer rang the ball went into the net. Now the question becomes did it leave his hands before or after 0? Thanks to official review and technology it was determined that it was after. With a score of 52 to 51 not only are we in the ACC Tourney Semifinals in the words of Lupe Fisaco "We just might ok after all...sun gon shine on these days"....Dare I say it? Yes I shall NCAA TOURNEY HERE WE COME!!!!!!!! LET'S GO HOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be or not to be an Android

So my crappy Palm finally gave out on me, thus I decided that since I was able to get an update....why not!!! So I've been eyeing the Android phone, but I don't want to fall for the hype. That's what happened with my Palm and after that dilly of a pickle I just don't want to go down that road again. My heart can't handle it. I went by the store yesterday and picked the phone I want. I'm taking it  for a 30 day test drive and at any sign of trouble....back to the store you will go!!! Wish me luck and phone exctasy (I really need to work on this spelling thing....ah well one battle at a time)

March Madness

OMG I can't wait for March Madness!! So of course b/c of college football season I haven't really been able to track college basketball and lets not even talk about the wrench that is the Superbowl. Moral of the story? The NCAA tourney selections are going to be made next weekend and I had to do a 2 hour ESPN refresher course b/c I had no idea who was a shoe in, who was on the bubble, who looked promising but fell long and hard and who came way out of left field to make a name for themselves. That being said I'm pretty sure I'm caught up. Now to really get myself in the mood for the NCAA Tourney I'm going to watch the UNC vs Duke game b/c even though I dislike both teams, this game is always great to watch. BTW just in case you are curious to know who I rooting for (b/c you HAVE to pick a side in these sort of things)....Let's go TARHEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm caught up in a whirlwind. Let's see if I can keep up. Jimmy is moving to ATL so of course I must be his official tour guide. My social/love life is in full swing, now if I can only find a lil more $ to keep up the lifestyle.
I just want to share w/ the blogger world that I am aware that spelling isn't a strong suit of mine evidenced by the 3 different ways I have spelled "sighting"

I am cleaning up my life: I have closed my FB, emptied my phone of useless contacts, bought a planner and set goals...2011 will be the year of fresh starts.

I'm not heartless, it just lives someplace separate for its own protection. Now if I could only keep the guard in check it would be all good.
