Whew!

You ever look forward to something so much that you're so sad when it's over. To the point of tears? These last 2 weeks of travel had me visiting friends I haven't seen in years, relaxing & priorizing self care, spending time with family and generally indulging in life fully. It's been beyond words and now that it's come and gone,  boy am I sad. There's more awesomeness ahead but I will miss the bit that just happened.  I've already taken to looking at photos just to relive it all.  Life is good. Until next post, laters

Captain's Blog: Dissertation Done

What a week! In the last 7 days I have finished and submitted my dissertation (whew), attended Dragon Con, celebrated J's 30th birthday, saw lots of friends, made some new ones, saw Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie (swoon), danced until my feet hurt, listened to the Georgia Philharmonic play nerd tunes, finished a cosplay, handed out free snacks, stayed up for hours and made life long memories. This has been a week for the history books. Until next post... laters

Whirlwind Tour

Hello out there! When I decided to pursue this postgraduate degree in the UK, I also made a promise to myself that I would travel more. I enjoy travelling and always have. I know, I know you can travel cheaply especially if you eat little, sleep in shacks and walk as much as possible. Trust me, I've done that, but the thing I was seemed to be lacking was time. That does not come cheaply, nor can be easily manipulated to suit one's needs. So the biggest thing (aside from you know, earning my degree) has been using my time wisely to travel. The first couple of months here weren't as productive as I'd like. In a little under 2.5 months I visited 1 country and 4 cities. Not my best showing really. In 2018 I've amped up, basically telling myself the earlier I book things, the cheaper it will be. Yes, I am sp...

Captain's Blog: Month 1

Hello out there blogger world So it's been over a month now since this little experiment called "Grad School" has begun. Unlike a proper scientist I have not done a very good job of taking notes, making observations etc. I will continue to try harder and make an actual plan of attack instead of just thinking about blogging more. After all this is as much for me as it is for you guys out there. I still fondly look back at some of my posts from the college days. Alright let's get down to business "to defeat the Huns" (sorry I couldn't resist) What's been happening you say....well I have made friends with my classmates or as they call them here coursemates. We usually have lunch together and have even hung out outside of class! Gasp! They are a good little group of diverse people from literally all over the world. Speaking of coursework, I'm finally getting a handle on the expectations and level of reading required but still feel like I'm ...
