2021: The Learning Odyssey

So I've been thinking more and more about things I've enjoyed or wanted to try in the past but never gave my full attention. The more I think about it the longer the lists seems to grow. The following things are some of those that I want to work on improving this year and beyond. Form better habits if you will.  Learn to roller skate & practice 2x a week  Rollerblade more (alternating with skating 🤔 maybe) Bike 1,000 miles Practice my ASL Cook a meal from scratch 1x a week Meditate for 30 minutes every day  Drink water every day Work out biweekly  I wouldn't call these "resolutions" but I am resolute in my determination to give this a go. Until next post....laters

The scariest month yet...

Well, it's October. Crazy to think we're in the 10th month of 2020 and it's been a rollercoaster of a year. Between the health crisis, the social justice upheaval and the political climate I am starting to feel older than my years. What started off as such a hopeful, expectant year has been a series of really high highs and low lows. I am not making jest of the serious issue that mental health is but this year has been personally very bipolar.  After not going since February and desperate for some normalcy and the ideal of maybe seeing my parents, I attempted my first out of state long trip to Disney World. Several things happened over the last few days. 1) J & I closed on our first home together. We bought property...so we're in this now, this being our relationship hahahaha. 2) I have gotten into a wonderful flow of working out and managing my workload after a tough transition in the beginning of the pandemic that allowed me to continue to work though not in the ...

2020 Goals

I am trying to be more accountable (for real this time...I promise) and thus am making measurable, attainable goals for 2020 & beyond! Here we go: Walk to work 3x a week (no matter the weather!!!) Cut out seafood/shellfish & become completely vegetarian Practice my ASL once a week via YouTube/Classes/In Person Take a day off 1x week to not work ANY job...not even a short shift or to "help out" Attend a concert/play/live show 1x month Drink 32oz water EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!  Save $50 a month (immediately transferred to UK) Cut back on drinking Go to the movies 1x week Also work on cosplay goals: Steven/Connie, Rogue/Gambit  This is a good start I think. I will add to this as more thoughts come along.  I'm getting older and it's getting harder to have balance and fun in life...but alas we all have to start somewhere

Wishes for 2015...Again because I deleted the first version

So I totally deleted the first version of  this list so I am redoing for a reference point.  I will still refrain from calling this a New Year's Resolution list and give it the name of goals/wishes instead. That way they are less daunting and I am more accountable, which in the end is just what I need, Accountability.  Organize one group activity a month (game night, dinner, sporting event,  etc) Hang with Jim once a week (even if it's only an invite & he can't do it) Read 1 book a month Work out 3 times a week (30 minutes minimum) Be more fashionable (invest in decent/presentable clothing & find a style model) Save $100 a month Take a multi vitamin every day Go to the grocery store and cook once a week (possibly combined with Jim related activities) Splurge on myself every 3 months (buy tixs to a play or concert, go to a really nice restaurant, spa day etc) Get more involved in the lives of my niece & nephew (details TBD)  Post 2x...

Things that I love.....or at least trying to

Image
So as you all know I am hard at work trying to stick to the goals I have set for myself in 2015. I am working on trying to refrain from calling them "resolutions" because even though they do require resolve to achieve, many "resolutions" tend to fall by the wayside half way through the year if not half way through the month of January. Nonetheless here I am yet again checking in and keeping accountable with those goals. For a refresher check out my post from January 6th. Soooo time for a status update: This came from my kitchen last night and I made it. I ate it and didn't die. I shared it with others, they also did not die. Cooking win!: Sweet Potato Mini Pies with Homemade Graham Cracker Crust Finished Product! As apart of my Georgia exploring goal went on a hike to Arabia Mountain, I was so proud of LJ! He did the entire 5 1/2 mile moderate hike without me having to carry him once. I'm only holding him in this picture because he is so tiny ...

Whirlwind

Well Blogger World, The month of August has been an interesting one. Some major life changes have happened that I don't want to go into but were substantial enough to put into motion a new course of life. Actually I will take the time to talk about one of those changes. On a recent trip to WDW I was disapproved in a few of my roles due to my weight gain and size. I will credit WDW Costuming Manager Winnie for handling a tricky situation with kindness and grace. I understand that she has a job to do and a look to achieve and currently I do not meet those guidelines. Though I was initially upset and distraught, I have since used this as a fuel to my fire weight loss and body toning goals. I have evaluated my eating habits and have since adopted a 4-5/day week workout routine and a protein packed 2000 calorie eating plan. I do not really like the word "diet", too many negative connotations. I feel good. I like it thus far. It has been a struggle to be consistent but with m...

2013: Thus Far

Here we are in the seventh month of the year and I feel like it's almost over! Well that's because it is. I figured I would take this time and update all my loyal readers (yes the both of you) what's been happening in my day-to-day life. So let's get started. Well as you know this is been a year of concerts for me. I've had the pleasure of seeing lots of artist for the first time. So far, I've seen Maroon 5, Owl City, Olly Murs, T.I., Lil Wayne, Ke$ha, Pitbull and in a weeks time my ATL baby Ludacris! it has been so fun to be able to spend my money and see artists whose music I truly enjoy. Hopefully I will be able to post some photographs really soon.  One of the benefits of living in Atlanta is its great music scene , which I haven't really had the chance to take advantage of until now. Boy am I making up for lost time. In recent revelations I decided to start working out a the regular basis. Why? Well realize that I wasn't all that happy with the ...

Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired

Yesterday.....I was exhausted. It took everything I had in me to head to the shelter to volunteer.  Today at work I lost another pair of jeans to "thigh rub" (should be self-explanatory).That was also the final straw. The proverbial camel's back has been broken. I am so tired of being tired and lethargic. Sure I work hard physically just about everyday but that's no excuse for not getting into shape! The muscles I use when lifting a 40lbs bag of potting soil aren't the same ones I use to ride a bike. I want to be at a healthy manageable weight and right now 150lbs and 5' just isn't that. When I was in college and actively participating in Crew I was a solid mass of 120lbs toned muscle. Now don't get me wrong I still had a large butt, a decent bra size and a definite Coca-Cola bottle shape but is was still all visually appealing to me when I looked in the mirror. Now when I look in the mirror the image staring back at me screams "Wtf". The wor...
