Going for Gold!!

I had the incredible opportunity to go to the Paris 2024 Olympics. I love the Olympics. It's the one time every four years that the individuals put aside our individual differences and cheer on not only the folx from our countries but also the triumphs of the human mind, body & spirit. Truly the Olympics is a time when the best of us can shine and I'm not referring to just the athletes. Paris is also one of my favorite places in the world so having the opportunity to combine things I love in one fantastic trip was LITERALLY a dream come true. I was recently visiting my folx and found a childhood journal in which I wrote a Bucket List. The movie starring Morgan Freeman had been released recently and so it was fresh on my 13/14 year old brain even though the characters are nearing the end of the journey on the earth. In any case created my own bucket list. Alongside the ones I grew out of (get married, have a kid) were ones I still haven't achieved (learn to swim & f...

You ever look forward to something so much that you're so sad when it's over. To the point of tears? These last 2 weeks of travel had me visiting friends I haven't seen in years, relaxing & priorizing self care, spending time with family and generally indulging in life fully. It's been beyond words and now that it's come and gone,  boy am I sad. There's more awesomeness ahead but I will miss the bit that just happened.  I've already taken to looking at photos just to relive it all.  Life is good. Until next post, laters

Whirlwind Tour

Hello out there! When I decided to pursue this postgraduate degree in the UK, I also made a promise to myself that I would travel more. I enjoy travelling and always have. There is so much out there to see and do and experience and I want to achieve it all. Though I've always had the travel bug, travelling means money and time. I know, I know you can travel cheaply especially if you eat little, sleep in shacks and walk as much as possible. Trust me, I've done that, but the thing I was seemed to be lacking was time. That does not come cheaply, nor can be easily manipulated to suit one's needs. So the biggest thing (aside from you know, earning my degree) has been using my time wisely to travel. The first couple of months here weren't as productive as I'd like. In a little under 2.5 months I visited 1 country and 4 cities. Not my best showing really. In 2018 I've amped up, basically telling myself the earlier I book things, the cheaper it will be. Yes, I am sp...

Split in Half

Image
I'm having an insane case of the blues right now. Which I know is ridiculous because there are so many joyful things in my life. I just got back from my very first solo vacation to Paris of all places and though I had a fantastic time worth repeating I am having a hard time dealing with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. I work hard to maintain a state of joy but for some reason everything I would normally do to cheer myself up from a funk isn't working. More and more I just want to find a dark hole and bury myself in there never to resurface. On the other I look at the things I have accomplished and I smile and feel pride. I am being split in two and I can't deal.  Hopefully I'll look back on this roller-coaster time and reflect positively. In the meantime here are a few photos from my trip that will make me smile.

Bon Voyage!

So many great things have already happened this month. Next week I'll do a post about Dragon-con because it was fantastic and wonderful. This post is about my first solo vacation. I'm heading to Paris, France and I could not be any more excited.  I have worked multiple jobs since March to save for this trip and now it's finally here. As I sit here in the airport waiting for my flight I can't help shake with the anticipation of events yet to come. I feel like such a big girl :-) Until next post, laters.
