Now that that is out of the way

I cried at work today. It's been a long time since I've been so frustrated that it presented itself as tears. It wasn't very long and almost stopped as quickly as it started but it made me think of a few things. If I didn't have the boss (who I was on the phone with at the time) that I have, would I have felt comfortable, seen and understood in that moment? Would I have told them what was happening and articulate why I felt the way I did which led to the tears? Did the tears help? I don't know the answers but I'm glad to be able to ask the questions. Until next post....laters

Emotionally Exhausted

Food is so personal and the US is full of times when poor, minority and othered people suffered. Today was one of those days that just drained me emotionally. I know who I am, my interests and intentions. Having that called into question is frustrating and has brought me to tears. Tomorrow will be a better day but I needed to write out how today felt. Future me will need to see this. Until next post....laters

Hello 2024

So the calendar that most Americans (like me) go by says it's a new year. Generally that also means folx make resolutions that they don't keep or changes that are superficial to themselves just to say "I did it". Welp, this post isn't that but I'd be lying if I didn't say it's in the same family 😉. This month I am reducing my alcohol intake. I don't really want to call it a "dry January" per se but more a decision to not consume alcohol. Several years ago after a very traumatic event,  I stopped drinking. I didn't tell anyone except VERY close friends why I wasn't drinking and I sometimes think about how I approached that. Instead of dealing with the event and how it affected me, I latched on to a superficial cause. In my mind, what happened to me, happened because of alcohol. Which wasn't the case. Was alcohol involved? Yes. Was it the sole reason this thing happened to me? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT. So with that in mind, not d...

Silver ain't so bad

I did it!!! I finally got status with Delta. Last year without meaning to, I was only one trip short of earning Medallion status. However,  by the time I realized it I couldn't figure out how or afford to take that trip. So this year I was intentional about booking and taking trips. I tried to say yes as much as I could. I also was strategic in where I vacationed. Our anniversary celebration for example was in Canada 🇨🇦. Well with a little effort,  I did it! I'm going to enjoy this year with trips planned for Iceland, London and Paris at least. Next year, I won't have nearly enough spending to retain it. In any case, free upgrades here I come!!! Until next post....laters

Birthday Vacay

It's the most magical time of year!! My birthday celebration has been going all month but I also decided this year to capitalize on the Thanksgiving holiday season by taking an extended trip 🙃. Pro Tip: Fly on Thanksgiving. I was through TSA and at my gate (A17) in 10mins and I fly through one of the world's busiest airports. Since this was also a solo trip I literally only did things I enjoyed. I visited several botanical gardens, popped into Mexico for a spell, spent time with friends I haven't seen in a while and went to theme parks. I'm about halfway through the trip so going to post a few pics 📸. Until next post, laters

It's the most Spooky time of year

Image
Over the years I've grown to love the fall and Hallmark.  The change in weather, the colors, the clothes, the flavors (hello Pumpkin Spice) I live for it all. This year is no different. With the holiday itself on a weekday, really we get bonus time to celebrate the weekend before.  Sorry, I don't make the rules. So in celebration of Halloweekend here are some photos from all the festivities I've done so far:

birthday boi!

Celebrating my dad's 80th birthday this week. Took a quick trip to visit them, take them to watch baseball & soccer, eat good food and visit the pandas at the zoo. When folx heard what we were celebrating they went out of their way to make it special. We got extra tickets to 1 baseball game (so my sister-cousin & niece could come), suite access for the 2nd baseball game AND field seats for the soccer game. I truly cannot top this birthday and we had a blast. Gonna share some photos. Until next post....laters

The Final Countdown (Dragon*Con Edition)

So it's almost time for Dragon*Con! This will be the first year that I'll be there for the entirety of the "weekend". I use quotation marks around weekend because it's actually 5 days long. It used to be just the weekend and due to popularity and growth it's now officially starting on Thursday.  I honestly think if we could financially manage the expense that goes into hosting such a large event that we'd just do Monday to Monday hahahah😂😂😂. I've got a tentative cosplay line up done and am super stoked about them.  So without further adieu: Thursday: Static Shock Bunny & Gear Hef Friday: Publix Loki Variant (tentatively) Saturday: Bill Potts (Parade/Photoshoot)----still figuring out what to do in the afternoon Sunday: Bill Potts/15th Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa)/Fugitive Doctor---Also the day of the Black Geeks of D*C Photoshoot Monday: Lazy PJ/Onesie/Nerd Wear This is also the first year that we'll be staying at a host hotel (or any hotel for that...

To err is to be human

When you do something under the influence of drugs or alcohol, is it as they say your true nature presenting itself? I recently read the Hunger Games prequel "The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" and one of the main characters is presented with the idea that at our most base level humans are animals with no sense of care just carnal behaviors. So, when we aren't mentally in a state to self correct; adjust; etc is that person we'd truly be? I had a bit of a blackout incident 😕 and though I have heard nothing negative per se I keep having hazy flashbacks of me crying uncontrollably, calling myself and others selfish and perhaps more hateful things. Do I deep down have self loathing? Am I really a terrible person? Am I projecting self confidence when in actually, I am waiting for the day it all falls apart & I can rest?  Until next post....laters

Oh! Canada: 10 Year Anniversary Trip

This little life we've built isn't without it's ups, downs & middle grounds for sure, but honestly I'm a better me because of we 🥰. Here are some highlights of our trip to Toronto. This is just a part of us celebrating. I'm also planning a lovely dinner, massage and going all out for Dragon*Con this year.
