October?

Oh hey there October! Where in the world did you come from? For the first time in 2 years I missed a month of posting (sorry September). That is how busy I have been. In my defense I did think about it....just a fleeting thought :-/. So what has been keeping me so busy? My three jobs! I work for an awesome Atlanta based  Popsicle company name King of Pops  now in addition to ABG & Disney. I have had a not so secret love affair with KoP since I moved to Atlanta and bought one at a festival. When I found out that they need people to help get them through the end of their season I was on it like butter on popcorn! Even my garden coworkers couldn't think of a better pairing :) So I have been mostly doing catered events after working at the garden which means long tiring days but all this work has helped me to put away a little change for stormy days. Another reason for all the working has been to distract me from things happening in DC I have no control over. My mother has b...

2013: Thus Far

Here we are in the seventh month of the year and I feel like it's almost over! Well that's because it is. I figured I would take this time and update all my loyal readers (yes the both of you) what's been happening in my day-to-day life. So let's get started. Well as you know this is been a year of concerts for me. I've had the pleasure of seeing lots of artist for the first time. So far, I've seen Maroon 5, Owl City, Olly Murs, T.I., Lil Wayne, Ke$ha, Pitbull and in a weeks time my ATL baby Ludacris! it has been so fun to be able to spend my money and see artists whose music I truly enjoy. Hopefully I will be able to post some photographs really soon.  One of the benefits of living in Atlanta is its great music scene , which I haven't really had the chance to take advantage of until now. Boy am I making up for lost time. In recent revelations I decided to start working out a the regular basis. Why? Well realize that I wasn't all that happy with the ...

Funny thing happened on the way to the Forum

Well actually it wasn't the forum but the greenhouse at work...and it wasn't funny "haha" it was more funny "hmmm". Details? Well this morning at work I realized that I had yet made a post for the month because it was a pretty quite month thus far. As I am walking to check on my greenhouse and pondering what to have my volunteers do I look up at the sky to see one of the most ominous looking clouds I have seen since the sky turned orange before a terrible storm.  I have a love/hate relationship with storms.  I think they are magical and I love magic but they are so violent too. Anyways I think to myself that I would hate to be inside my all metal greenhouse if a storm was to break out.  Well you know how people say that your words are powerful and you must be careful what you say?  Haha guess where the storm caught me? As I sat on the floor I figured I would work on my post and really take the time to reflect on this month. It couldn't have been as ...

Manic May!

I figured that when we opened the show we would slow down a bit. Not exactly true!  Once Imaginary Worlds: Plants Larger than Life opened we still had to finish summer annuals.  Thus we have been swamped. This being the final days of the month I'll just give a quick recap: Opened Exhibit Finished annuals Another concert (photos to come) Finished paying for my car Jim traveled outside of the country for the first time First solo road trip with Jesse Star Wars Weekend Universal Studios Enjoying my new movie watching hobby Fell in love with Dr. Who Fixed my bike Joined a gym That seems to be everything.... so until next post...laters!

Sick & Tired of Being Sick & Tired

Yesterday.....I was exhausted. It took everything I had in me to head to the shelter to volunteer.  Today at work I lost another pair of jeans to "thigh rub" (should be self-explanatory).That was also the final straw. The proverbial camel's back has been broken. I am so tired of being tired and lethargic. Sure I work hard physically just about everyday but that's no excuse for not getting into shape! The muscles I use when lifting a 40lbs bag of potting soil aren't the same ones I use to ride a bike. I want to be at a healthy manageable weight and right now 150lbs and 5' just isn't that. When I was in college and actively participating in Crew I was a solid mass of 120lbs toned muscle. Now don't get me wrong I still had a large butt, a decent bra size and a definite Coca-Cola bottle shape but is was still all visually appealing to me when I looked in the mirror. Now when I look in the mirror the image staring back at me screams "Wtf". The wor...

March Madness: April Edition

Image
Everyone came to Atlanta last weekend for the NCAA Final Four Game. Largest crowd since the Olympics. With concerts, parties and games associated boy was it a mad house. Seems to me that April is just as crazy as March!  We are only two weeks in and thus far I have participated in the Color Run,  the 3.2 for 32 VT Memorial Run, started busy season at work and went downtown for the NCAA festivities. Up next on the docket? Changing out all the fall/winter vegetables for summer ones, chef demos every weekend,  teaching 4 classes this season (with one at Home Depot), doing my Disney certification oh and of course the year of concerts must continue. My life is making me tired. I must say I am enjoying every busy moment.  Enjoy these photos until next post......laters!!!! Tulips in my garden   Smurfette!!!! Color Run Volunteers

March Madness!

In my mind, it's still January.  In reality it is almost April. It has been such a whirlwind kind of month. At work we are getting ready for our new summer exhibit Imaginary Worlds . The whole exhibit features sculptures that are made completely of plant material. Let's see if I can successfully create a link because I am not great at explaining it. Needless to say once you have checked out the photos of past shows you will understand why we are super excited but a bit uneasy about the whole event. Also on the work front as a part of my new responsibilities I have about 3 full garden change outs to organize from plant selection down to delivery to layout and finally care. Though I have an excellent assistant who is helping me ride the wave it's still a challenge. In other news I have been out having fun! I have really hit my stride! This month was the beginning of the year of concerts. First up: Owl City, Neon Trees and Maroon 5. Worth every penny. I've included phot...

Pre-Valentine's Check-in

Image
Hey there Blogger World!!! As we approach my all time favorite holiday. ...I felt the need to do an update just in case I don't make it here on VDay itself. In the last couple of weeks since my accident and subsequent post in relation to it a lot has happened. Highlights include Jim's birthday and celebration as well as a promotion (for me)!!! I am now a senior horticulturist in charge of the Edible Garden. Pretty exciting and something I have been working towards. I will miss the Children's Garden though. Bonus is that my new garden is literally just down hill from the kiddie garden so I can always just look up at it for inspiration.  For Jim's birthday we ended up going down to Orlando/Tampa. We had a pretty epic time which included a couple of brewery tours, clubbing, Disney and a lazy river. I must say that I'm proud of Borsella....he kept up with Jim and I. We definitely didn't make it easy on him either..... Four parks in one day!!!!!  Enjoy the...

Laughing through the Pain

Image
So yesterday at work the following happened: Moe (thinking in my head): OMG it's finally sunny...I'm going to frolic in my garden. Walk out to the Visitors Center with wooden garden cart and a smile on my face. Start working on planters  Moe (again in my head): Damn I need to do the deck pots too  Take the elevator to the seldom used top level of parking deck  Moe: The sun is so bright. I'm loving this.  Work on first planter Start walking to next planter, pulling the large wooden garden cart behind me.  Sees puddle of water, walks to the left of said puddle, slips on black ice, falls backwards on to the handle/edge of large wooden garden cart...lands on concrete  Moe: #$!@ Lays on the ground  Moe (back in my head): Damn i've fallen and can't get up  Painfully reaches to grab radio to call security  Moe: Hey Robert or anyone on security i've had an accident and need help  Robert: I'll be right there ...

Welcome 2013!

Image
So....its already the 4th day of the month and still no post? Well that's not the way to start 2013 now is it. I spent NYE in Orlando as per usual but this time instead of a house party. I must admit it was pretty fun and I even got a kiss at midnight. I try not to make resolutions and this year is really no different but I have reverted to some old habits.....and by that I mean Facebook. Its been two years since my last time and though it's a bit intense to be back I am glad to see what has been happening in people's lives. Hopefully it won't bite me in the ass. So heres to 2013!! A year of promise.....until next post laters.

Tap N Run: Orlando

Image
Amanda: Hey, there is a 4k in Atlanta that involves beer stations and drinking......you in? Moe: When? Amanda: November 16. Moe: I'll be in VA. Amanda: There's one in Orlando on December 15. Moe: I'm in....and so is Jim. And thus here we are Blogger World. I am not sure who came up with this idea of a fun run with beer in addition to water but they deserve a medal themselves. Jim left Amanda and I to actually run....he didn't get the memo to not take this "run" too seriously. Anyways after he left us...Amanda and I took every opportunity to take pics, wave at people in cars, have fun and of course chug beer at all 4 Chug Stations :-). It took us 50mins to run a little over 2 miles but we only actually ran whenever we could see a beer chug station. Check out the photos including our finishers medal (which is actually a bottle opener...score!!) and if it comes to your city....DO IT!!!!!! We liked it so much...we may even do it again in my hometow...

Quarter of a Century Celebration!

Image
Good Morning Blogger World!! So I am currently in Otown with Jim & LJ visiting Amanda and Jarrod for my Bday weekend or as I refer to it: the 25th Anniversary of My Appearance on Earth. It's official I can rent a car in all 50 states and my car insurance rates will now start to decrease. Wahoo! 25 was definitely a good one....I am happy in my career, my love life is on track, I have great friends and an alright dog. This is feeling like a steady incline if I do say so myself. On my actual birthday (Thursday) it was all about Dave & Busters (well only because my first choice was a failure) and we had a great time. I tried to beat everyone on the Midway but that was not the case. Alas it didn't matter because I looked good, ate a cupcake or two and had a great time with people I kinda like a whole lot. Anyways while at Disney I took advantage of checking out the New Fantasyland (or at least the parts that were open) and wouldn't you know it....I got celeb sighting nu...

Channeling Paula Dean

So since I have acquired a boyfriend recently who loves to cook, I have felt the need to improve in the kitchen. For those of you in the Blogger World that don't know me all that well...I HATE TO COOK. However I also believe in an equal relationship so since he loves it so much I have been really putting effort into cooking more. Allreceipes.com has been a God send, most of the receipes are pretty easy to follow and don't make me feel like a total idiot in the kitchen. The other day at the garden we got rid of a bunch of pumpkins so I decided to take some home and cook something. The question was what though....after searching for a little while through the gazillion pumpkin receipes found at this time of year I found a "Pumkin Fritter" receipe in which I could use things I already had in my very limited pantry AND use the deep fryer I got 2 years ago and have moved to 3 different apartments but have never used. Bonus!! With a little help from Amanda (who is visiting ...

Fall Fun!!

Image
Fall has always been my favorite season...mainly b/c I was born in the Fall but it has other things going for it too. I love the changing of the leaves, the brisk evenings, sweaters, boots and a reason to eat and drink everything pumkin flavored. I just enjoy it all!! Living in GA is awesome because I have the unique opportunity to enjoy all of the things that make the season... something I took for granted in VA and missed terribly in FL. Growing up I always wanted to go to a corn maze but they were never around. We went to the pumpkin patch but never the maize (lol!). This year as apart of my "give Atlanta a chance" movement I decide to finally take advantage of the chance to get lost in ears of corn. An hour OTP ( Cagle's Family Farm ) later Jim and I were roaming like children...and since we were there we also did a hayride, petting zoo, fried pies and pumpkin picking. Overall a pretty great Autumn day.

Signs of a good time?!?
