Shaky Knees 2026

I've been to many a concert & music festival in my time. It all started years ago when I would theme each year as a way to have a bucket list without too much stress. There was the year of travel, the year of concerts, the year of dining out etc. I realized I really enjoyed live music and so I'd checked out so many different new to me musically via festivals. That's how I discovered Djo and MUNA for example.  This year started as a typical SK, hot & dusty with great vibes and seeing old friends and of course making new ones.  That is of course before an insane storm blew came in fast and hard and caused my first ever evacuation. Blood Orange had just started their set, then the organizers called for everyone to clear metal barricades and VIP areas and with in minutes that escalated to a full evacuation. Within that time as the crowds begrudgingly started to make their way to the emergency exits the literal skies opened and dumped over 6" of rain in the span of about 45 minutes. Trying to traverse the crowds was a feat! Many folx were disappointed because they'd been there since opening waiting for TØP (Twenty One Pilots, who interestingly I first saw at a festival in FL). While they eventually reopened (just for their set) many fans of The Prodigy & Pierce the Veil did not get hear those artists. I was looking forward to Pierce the Veil myself as I only heard a bit of their opening set ahead of MCR in Nashville. 

While it wasn't the most pleasant situation, I believe that SK did the best they could with a rapidly changing situation. And in the words of one of my favorites "100 Bad Days makes a 100 good stories, and a 100 good stories makes me interesting at parties "

Decide

The past few weeks I've been having various versions of the same dream. Something happens tragically to J (death, injury, disappearance) and I am not only witnessing it I can't stop it from happening. However, I still try to. I scream, I fight, I look for help, every time and it's always the same outcome. His demise and my sorrow. I mentioned it casually to my therapist who pretty much posed the question: what am I not talking about to him? What am i holding on to that is manifesting in this way? Tonight, he came home after a night out. Captain's Blog: Refocused

So I've been around a lot of reflective people as of late (which isn't surprising...it's the beginning of the year) and initially I just tried to not be as reflective myself.  To be honest, it feels a bit cliche. That being said there's a reason people do it. There's a reason I am going to do it. I want to be purposeful with my time and choices. Means to an end. A satisfactory end. A few posts ago I created a bucket list, think of this as a continuation of sorts to that. So here we go: I want be more active regularly. To me that means manageable fitness goals. I want to play Quidditch again, get back to doing circus arts and ride my bike at least once a week. I want to build new friendships through existing avenues. There are coworkers I adore, pokemon go folks I keep encountering, and neighbors I'd like to cultivate stronger bonds with.
